Abstract


Aykut Kence, Professor Emeritus of biology, died February 1, 2014, at the age of 67. He was born on August 27, 1946, in Istanbul and died in Ankara, Turkey. Kence obtained the B.S. degree in biology in 1968 from Istanbul University and the PhD. degree in entomology in 1973 from State University of New York at Stony Brook. He joined the Middle East Technical University, Science Faculty in 1974 and retired in 2013. He was a renowned biologist and entomologist who published more than 180 publications in the fields of genetics, morphometrics, ecology, ethology, evolutionary biology and conservation biology.
